Mendagri Suspected Political Elements in the Case of the Littered e-KTP

Go Fakta. Jakarta, Interior Minister Tjahjo Kumolo suspects there are indications in the political direction regarding the case of the scattering of electronic KTPs in the Duren Sawit area, East Jakarta on Saturday (8/12). Allegations arise because the incident occurred in the political year ahead of the legislative and presidential elections.

"If I see an indication, there is an element (politics) there even though the e-KTP has expired," Tjahjo said at the Mercure Hotel, Ancol, Jakarta, Monday (10/12) after attending the Bawaslu National Coordination Meeting.

Tjahjo did not want to talk more about indications of the political motives of the incident. But he asserted that according to the rules, e-KTPs that are outdated or damaged should be destroyed by cutting. However

He further said the Ministry of Home Affairs was still awaiting the results of a police investigation into the case. The government, said Tjahjo, wanted to know who and what the motives of the e-KTP case were scattered.

"What can be revealed is the motivation. That makes noise, or anything. But in principle this disrupts the system, it's just like fake money," he said.

The scattered case of a number of e-KTPs occurred on Jalan Bojong Rangkong, Pondok Kopi, Duren Sawit on Saturday (12/8). Currently the e-KTP has been taken to the Duren Sawit Police Headquarters to be investigated.

Duren Sawit police chief Kompol Parlindungan Sutasuhut said the e-KTP was found at around 13:30 WIB.

From the results of calculations in the Duren Sawit Police Headquarters, the number of e-KTPs was referred to as 2,158. All e-KTPs have been put into one 20-kilogram rice sack. However, some of the KTPs were found to be damaged and illegible.

"We are checking the children who found out that the child is underage," Parlindungan said when contacted by CNNIndonesia.com.

Separately, House Speaker Bambang Soesatyo appealed to the Ministry of Home Affairs to seriously handle this case. He also suggested that the Minister of Home Affairs form a special team.

He said that the House of Representatives Commission II had planned to form a special committee (Pansus) to investigate cases of e-KTP that were scattered.

"But in my opinion, if it has been handled properly by the Minister of Home Affairs, there is no need for a special committee," Bamsoet said at the Parliament Building, Jakarta. (ctr / wis)
